Parul Sehgal is a literary critic who is published in numerous literary magazines and newspapers. She is also an editor at ''The New York Times Book Review''.〔(Parul Sehgal ), About page〕 Parul Sehgal was born to Indian parents and she grew up in India, Hungary, the Philippines and Northern Virginia. She studied political science at McGill University.〔 After graduation she returned to Delhi to work at an NGO.〔 She then returned to the US where she receive an MFA from Columbia University, after which she obtained an editing position at ''Publishers Weekly''.〔 She also published literary criticism in ''Bookforum'', ''Slate'', ''Tin House'', ''NPR.org'', the ''Literary Review'', ''O Magazine'', ''The Plain Dealer'', ''The Irish Times'', and ''Time Out New York''.
